Problem with the gauges

Bericht door kalm » 05 jun 2022, 04:36

Hi!
Did anyone else have the problem that the speedometer and the electric charge gauge are showing the wrong reading?
Some times it shows a speed 20 higher, sometimes 25 lower, it is random. The same with the charge. It starts from under the base status (meaning at idle for ex. the needle is standing vertically down and when recuperating power it even turns towards the right side while pointing down.).
I have just bought the car and did not notice this problem before.
Any ideas on how to fix it would be much appreciated!

My guess would be that the gauge cluster has been disassembled and reassembled for some reason, without properly aligning the needles.
To fix it yourself, this would be trying to take the cluster out and first look at the gauge and needle mounts. Possibly it can be reseated at 90 degrees clockwise. Maybe test while reconnecting with the vehicle to see if at idle you have 9 o'clock and 0 km/h. Success :)

If it's completely random it may be an issue with the grounding/earthing connection of the gauge block. Disconnecting and properly reconnecting the electric connector(s) might solve this.
